In 1990, he founded the independent record label For4Ears Records. For twenty years he has been involved in electro-acoustic improvisation. He has played and recorded with a large number of fine musicians, from Keith Rowe to Butch Morris, from Christian Marclay to Jim ORourke. It was the latter's idea in 1995 for a collaboration of Günter Müller and Voice Crack. _______The two members of Voice Crack (Andy Guhl and Norbert Möslang) also have a long history in electro-acoustic music. Starting in 1972, they have played what they refer to as cracked everyday-electronics (although not named as such until later): radios, turntables, transmitters, dictating machines they are creating new sounds using magnetic and radio waves in a complex system controlled by movements of their hands and by light. During the past thirty years of researching sounds, Voice Crack has often collaborated with the trio Borbetomagus, and also recorded «table, chair and hatstand» together with Günter Müller and Jim O'Rourke. _______Working with sounds of recycled vinyl records, minidisc and sampler, Erik M has worked with similar inclined musicians (Otomo Yoshihide, Christian Marclay) as well as numerous others including Tom Cora, Catherine Jauniaux, Michel Doneda, Sophie Agnel and The Ex. Erik M met Günter Müller in 1998 in the art galerie «Fri-Art» in Fribourg, Switzerland. _______In december 1998, the festival «More scratch» in Nantes, France, programmed both duos, who also merged on stage to play an unexpected third set a band was born! |
